Casablanca is a movie released in 1942. It was directed by Michael Curtiz. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman are the main stars of the movie. Their acting is extremely lively and expressive during the whole movie. I just love how they managed to express the emotions and feelings of the main characters. I really liked the movie. In fact, this is one of the best movies I have ever seen. My favorite scene is when Rick is reading the note from Ilsa, and her writing is being washed down by the rain. In my opinion, the words that were slowly vanishing under the pouring rain perfectly showed how hurt Rick was by this short note. I think that rain is the symbol of Rick’s tears.

In my opinion, the theme of love and war is perfectly showed in the movie. War destroys people’s lives and relationships. Rick and Ilsa’s relationship is not an exception. The movie perfectly shows the change in Rick’s character. In the past, he was an active fighter for freedom and human rights. However, at the beginning of the movie, he is a man, who will not sacrifice anything to help somebody. However, in the end, Rick changes because of the love he has for Ilsa. I really like the final scene at the airport, because the ending of the movie is quite unexpected. Rick decides to sacrifice his relationship with Ilsa, to protect her and help her husband, Laszlo. In my opinion, it is a noble gesture, which shows how important it is to think about the consequences of your behavior, and what effect this behavior may have on other people. The final touch of the already perfect movie is the phrase: “We’ll always have Paris”, which Rick tells Ilsa. This phrase means that even though their relationship has to end now, Rick and Ilsa will always remember how they loved each other and how happy they were together in Paris. They will always have these memories and the time they spent together.
